Reason chosen:

With the release of Onyx, the second in the series, I decided I needed to pick up this novella and read all about Dawson.

Summary taken from Goodreads:

The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

Review:

Picture Daemon, then picture him being…nice. Weird right? But that would be Dawson Black, and oh my is it ever hot. Bethany arrives and he is determined to be with her. To find out everything about her. How awesome is that? Don’t get me wrong Daemon is my number one and always will be. I love the snarky comments and sarcasm that just dribbles out of his month, and thankfully there are some scenes from Daemon’s P.O.V in this book. Although this book is short, it sure is sweet. I love Dawson and the way he treats Bethany and I love how Bethany just believes she’s basically dreaming the whole time. For some reason one of my favourite parts is when he is sitting in the chair in front of Daemon and just reached back and slaps Daemon in the face. I could picture it perfectly and thought it was hilarious! Many novella’s sometimes are of no consequence to the overall series, but after reading Onyx I know that the novella is of importance. So, for all you Lux lovers out there pick up the novella and read it to fill in some gaps and see some familiar faces.

Good:

Dawson: hot like Daemon, but nice and determined to get the girl he wants right from the start.

Daemon: He’s in there a bit too

Dee: Oh man I love how the brothers act around her and how they yell when she says something about her sex life, or lack there of.

Bethany: Clearly perfect for Dawson.

Bad:

Nothing, it was short and sweet.

Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):

Overall, like Obsidian I found myself falling in love with the main lead during the first chapter. Its pretty hard not to. For something so short there sure is a lot of action, but truly, I am more than ok with that. Some things go a little fast in this book just like Obsidian and you have slow down and back track to make sure you read everything correctly. Overall, this is the first novella I’ve ever considered buying in paperback form. Yup, its that good.
