I began reading Supernaturally Kissed and loved it, so I thought I would check out the other books by the author. Not to mention the cover is beautiful!
Summary taken from Goodreads:
Love is born between strangers, yet built upon a bond soul deep―one Alpha’s vow to protect his mate from looming danger, all the while, mending her soul and stirring her wolfish desires.
A vicious Werewolf attack in Plymouth, Minnesota leaves a young woman violated, bitten and now, transformed into a Werewolf. But Rynn Murphy doesn’t have to face this transformation alone—she has her mate by her side. And the charming Briggs is eager to ease her into this new life and mend her battered soul.
With only weeks to adjust to her new fur, Rynn begins to understand what it truly means to be mated to the Beta, secondhand man to Valor, Patriarch of Wolves. Their leadership over the Alphas brings them in contact with the Montana Alpha, Hendrix. He is in a desperate state to find his abducted daughter. Valor and Briggs agree to give aid in her rescue leaving Rynn to tag along.
But this mission is not without danger. And soon, they discover the ones who have taken this young wolf do not want her found and will stop at nothing to keep her hidden. Or so it may seem, as bodies begin to drop around them, the murderous attempts start to appear more as a hit than a smoke screen—leaving only one question, who is the intended target?
Be aware that this book is a spin-off of the author’s other series: previous called The Magical Sword series now called Magic & Mayhem. And, yes its my opinion that you have to read the other series to get the full effect of this series. I, however, did not know that. So when I started reading this series it felt like I missed something…like maybe the first book. It wasn’t really confusing as they do give you a recap, but when you read this book Briggs and Rynn are already together. It would have been nice to read about them getting together and all that Rynn went through in her initial change. And, I don’t honestly know that it’s even explained in other series, and if it is it’s probably not from their perspective so it the effect may be lost. Also, when I started reading this I looked it up on Goodreads and saw that there was a link for the reading order, but when I clicked on it the link did not work. Not to mention the book and the other series (which was suppose to be re-released April of this year) were also not listed on her website. So I was very confused. That all set aside it was still a good read. I loved Briggs and I liked Rynn. Considering everything she’s been through she acts pretty tough. The novel actually reminded me a lot of the Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs, which I loved. There were some things about the novel that bothered me, but overall this was a pretty decent read.
Briggs—I am a sucker for Alpha males. And Briggs had the option of being an Alpha. Makes me smile
Valor—Pretty cool Alpha of all Alphas
Sometimes the books really focused on their love and worry for one another. It talks about the little touches they give each other, the re-assuring hand squeezes and smiles, and all the emotions that they feel through their bond. I wouldn’t mind the occasional mention but it was mentioned quite a bit throughout the novel to the point were I thought it was taking up writing space that could have been used for more story line. Another thing was that the beginning of their love story was missing. In my opinion it should be released in a novella or separately and be in their P.O.V so that I don’t have to read two or three books of another series just to get the beginning of this one. Then there was the fact that it was a short book. I thought more thought and plot could have went into the novel to make it a more enjoyable and capturing novel
Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):
Overall the novel was very well written. I loved the characters, and how each were made different. Briggs has a dirty mind, but he would never say anything out loud. I expected more humour after reading Supernaturally Kissed, also by Stacey Kennedy, but there wasn’t that much in here. The story-line, however, was very well done and a rather good read. I did not expect the ending and I was confused right along with the characters on this mystery. Overall An Everlasting Bite by Stacey Kennedy is a heart-felt romance with a little mystery tied in there that will make you want to continue reading just to hang out with the characters.
Next in the Series:
Silent Howl (#2)
