Because I love Highlanders. Enough said.

SHE IS SIN PERSONIFIED

Cursed by past tragedies, notorious Highlander Laird Athdar MacCallum has devoted himself to leading his people - and has vowed never to marry again. Until he is utterly disarmed by the innocent beauty in the eyes of Isobel Ruriksdottir

Isobel is drawn to the vulnerability she senses behind the fearsome facade of the clan chief. But with his formidable reputation, he is strictly forbidden. Being together can only lead them into danger, yet the temptation to risk all for their perilous passion is impossible to ignore.

Obviously I need to read the other books in the series…because this one was nice and kind of steamy. In other words= me likey. So Isobel  is kind of dreamer to me, and she’s a little manipulative, but I still like how ballsy she is. I liked the idea of the bad boy turned good and the young lady who sees him for what he really is. It was interesting to see the romance between the characters because you learn of their history and you watch their relationship come together. Overall, it was a good read but there was something missing when I was reading it, and I’m not certain if it’s because I have not read the rest of the series, but I don’t think that’s the reason.
Isobel—Overall really nice, but she knows what she wants and what to do to get it.

Athdar—headstrong and determined to make up for his past

There was something missing with this story. I’m not sure is its because of the background info I was missing from the other books in the series or just something about the story overall

Overall it was still a more than enjoyable read. It left me happy and smiling and had me wanting to read the other books in the series (which really tells ya something). I found it was relatively easy to follow (even though there was some old forms of speech) and would definitely recommend it to those that love Highlanders.

Review: Warrior's Last Gift by @Melissa Mayhue

Warrior’s Last Gift
Series:  Warrior #1.5

Publisher: Pocket Star
Genre:  Adult, Historical, Romance
Release Date:  October 2nd 2012
Pages:  100

I love Melissa Mayhue’s Time travel romance novels.

An enthralling eNovella that combines time-travel, the Scottish Highlands, and a touch of Norse mythology—linking the Daughter of the Glens series with the Warriors series spin-off.
When Jeanne MacGhie had nowhere to turn, Eymer Horvesson stepped in with an offer of marriage. He asked for only one favor in return…and now that he’s dead, Jeanne will stop at nothing to keep her promise to the young warrior—even though it means turning to the one man she swore she’d never speak to again.

Eric MacNicol never expected a cavalier refusal to wed would result in his losing the one thing he truly wanted in life. When a warrior’s final request forces him on a cross-country quest with the widow, he must battle his inner demons to make the right decision this time. Only one last gift from a fallen warrior can offer them both a second chance at true love….

Although this is a short novella, its a great read. I like the idea behind the story of always having a second chance. I also love the story and history between the two characters. The men of this clan are nothing but honourable and its proven by Eymer’s offer and his last wish. The story was a great romantic read that lets us unravel the history between the two characters and fall in love with them multiple times. The adventure that happens in the novella is also very interesting as well as the characters that they meet along the way. Warrior’s Last Gift gave me the insight I wanted into a character i really enjoyed in Warrior’s redemption, but keeps the series moving forward!

Jeanne—Stubborn, but determined, and thankful for what she was given in life.

Eric—A man of his time, and fills the mould of the male characters in Mayhue’s series that are stubborn, pig-headed, and believe that the women of their lives deserve better. Yet…he makes me sigh.

There were some moments that were slow and I felt like both main characters needed to remove their heads from their butts.

Overall the story was enjoyable and gives me more hope for the series than the first book. It was easy to follow and had a cute story line with some mythology and adventure mixed in. I could relate to both characters and really enjoyed seeing their lives and history unfold. Overall I was left with a smile on my face.
